Blue Bats Card Show
Waterloo, IA - 11/13/2005
On November 13, 2005, the CollectingResources.com team attended the Blue Bats Baseball card show in Waterloo, IA. This was our inaugural show and hopefully it will lead to many more.
The featured guest was Ron Blomberg, the first designated hitter in major league baseball. On opening day in 1973, Ron became the first official DH. He walked with the bases loaded and was 1 hit for 3 at bats. Ron was drafted No. 1 overall by the New York Yankees in 1967. He is one of only seven (7) Yankees during his career in New York to hit over .300. In 1973 Ron hit a career high .329 batting average.
Ron was relaxed and a great guest at the show -- friendly, upbeat, great with the kids. Greg got Ron's autograph on a photo and I snapped their picture together.

.Our first venture in selling vintage baseball cards was a success. We chatted with other dealers, worked on our Excel files, and asked a number of people to help create content for CollectingResources.com. Sales were slow, but I think we made some new friends. I want to especially mention Terry Woodward of Heartland Sportscards and Mike Mccullough of Tinhead Cardshop. Our tables were co-located and we had almost six hours to chat.

.Many thanks to Charlie Aldrich and Yankee fans in Waterloo/Cedar Falls who organized the show. Invite us to your show, convention or collecting meeting.
