Description:
Magnus, the Robot Fighter, is a fictional hero who first appeared in Magnus Robot Fighter 4000 A.D. #1, published by Gold Key Comics in February, 1963.
Magnus was raised by a robot known as 1A. Robot 1A recognised the threat that Freewill robots represented, so he trained Magnus as a warrior. Magnus became a skilled martial artist who could break steel with his bare hands.
Created by writer/artist Russ Manning, "Magnus" was one of the few science fiction based comics success stories. The final Russ Manning issue was #21, published in early 1968. As the 1970s approached, sales began to decline, and the last issue (#46) was published in January 1977.
